Political campaigns in this country cost too much money, and I’m left feeling like my voice doesn’t matter. The point of democracy is to have the voice of everyday people heard.
Is that possible when millions of dollars are being funneled into our state from outside interests?
I’m happy former representative Mary Sawatzky has decided not to take any special-interest money. Mary is not taking funds from PACs or any other special groups.
In a time when money seems to direct our politics, Sawatzky is showing us that there is another way. You can put the people of your district first. It’s important to have a politician act on their values.
